Psalm 111: Thanks, Praise, and Wisdom all Start with Fearing God

Psalm 111: Thanks, Praise, and Wisdom all Start with Fearing God

We need to pray the Psalms! Especially in times of uncertainty. We must remember that God is still in control and Jesus is the king of Kings! This Psalm is all about giving thanks, praising Him, remembering what He’s done, how He’s provided, and most importantly, how it all starts with Fearing God. Let’s dig in.

Psalm 111

Praise the Lord!

I will thank the Lord with all my heart
as I meet with his godly people.
How amazing are the deeds of the Lord!
All who delight in him should ponder them.
Everything he does reveals his glory and majesty.
    His righteousness never fails.
He causes us to remember his wonderful works.
How gracious and merciful is our Lord!
He gives food to those who fear him;
    he always remembers his covenant.
He has shown his great power to his people
by giving them the lands of other nations.
All he does is just and good,
and all his commandments are trustworthy.
They are forever true,
to be obeyed faithfully and with integrity.
He has paid a full ransom for his people.
He has guaranteed his covenant with them forever.
What a holy, awe-inspiring name he has!
10 Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom.
All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom.

Praise him forever!

Psalm 111 NLT

This Psalm describes the “Person” of God — the Character of God…

  • God’s work deserves our respect.
  • We are to remember His wonderful works.
  • He expects us to obey His commandments.
  • When we don’t or didn’t, He sent Jesus as our Redeemer so we wouldn’t end up in hell.
  • Jesus is sovereign over the world, as well as every area of life.

Pastor Sandy Adams sums it up nicely…

You need to fear God.

We think of God as our counselor. He’s always on call to help us get what we want. We live as if God exists for us, instead of vice versa. There’s no godly fear. This is what’s been lost in today’s Christianity. We treat Jesus like He’s our buddy, our pal, or our homeboy.

Pastor Sandy Adams

God should be your GPS, not your spare tire!

Yes, Jesus wants to be your friend, but most importantly, He wants to SAVE YOU! However, He won’t force himself on you. YOU need to make the decision to believe, repent, and follow Him alone while you’re still alive and coherent. By the way, there’s no such thing as purgatory!

If you’re not sure if you’re saved or not, if you truly want to be born again and have the assurance of salvation, receive the Holy Spirit, feel His Shalom — a peace that surpasses all understanding, and get a 1-way, non-stop ticket to Heaven after you die, or that you won’t be left behind at the Rapture, which can happen at any moment, this is what you have to do…

Believe. Repent. Be Baptized. Receive the Holy Spirit.

  • Believe — have Faith — that Jesus is the Christ and He died taking your sins away forever and that He rose from the dead 3 days later.
  • Repent of your sins — stop sinning! Do a complete 180-degree turn in your life and surrender your life to Him. When you ask Jesus to forgive you He will. ALL your sins will be wiped clean — past, present, and future! And All means ALL!
  • Be Baptized by water baptism — show the world and yourself that you have died to your old life and are born again in Christ.
  • Receive the gift of Holy Spirit in your heart.

Invite Jesus into Your Heart and Receive the Gift of Grace, Joy, Peace, and the Confident Hope of Eternal Life…

God is in Control

Holy Forever
