To whom are you accountable? If you own a business, you are accountable to your customers to provide the product or service that they paid for in a reasonable amount of time. And if you have employees, you are responsible for paying them the wages agreed upon when hired. They are accountable to you to do the work you told them to do.
If you are married, you are accountable to your spouse. At least you should be. We are all accountable to the IRS if we earn income to report it and pay what is due. A little kid is accountable to his parents. I’m sure you remember a time when you were caught doing something wrong. Did you blame it on someone else? Since I was an only child, I blamed it on the dog.
There are many more examples of accountability. However, the most important one is to whom are you accountable for your sins. If you lied to your spouse and they found out, you’re accountable to apologize and make up for it. You are also accountable to God.
For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.
Romans 3:23 NLT
EVERYONE has sinned! We all have. Admit it! Even after being baptized I sinned. A minor one was cheating my employer of an hour’s work one day. I was the only one in the office and I left an hour early. No one would notice, right? Well, God noticed. I had this guilty feeling until I stayed an extra hour another day to make up for it. No one in office noticed, but I know God did.
Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.
Hebrews 4:13 NLT
Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God.
Romans 14:12 NLT
Are you Ready for Judgement Day?
Jesus told the Pharisees (and us)…
“A tree is identified by its fruit. If a tree is good, its fruit will be good. If a tree is bad, its fruit will be bad. You brood of snakes! How could evil men like you speak what is good and right? For whatever is in your heart determines what you say. A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.”
Matthew 12:33-37
God warned the Jews (and us) back in the Old Testament…
“The end is here!
Ezekiel 7:2-4
Wherever you look—
east, west, north, or south—
your land is finished.
No hope remains,
for I will unleash my anger against you.
I will call you to account
for all your detestable sins.
I will turn my eyes away and show no pity.
I will repay you for all your detestable sins.
Then you will know that I am the Lord.
And there’s this one from 2 Chronicles..
“But if you or your descendants abandon me and disobey the decrees and commands I have given you, and if you serve and worship other gods, then I will uproot the people from this land that I have given them. I will reject this Temple that I have made holy to honor my name. I will make it an object of mockery and ridicule among the nations. And though this Temple is impressive now, all who pass by will be appalled. They will ask, ‘Why did the Lord do such terrible things to this land and to this Temple?’
“And the answer will be, ‘Because his people abandoned the Lord, the God of their ancestors, who brought them out of Egypt, and they worshiped other gods instead and bowed down to them. That is why he has brought all these disasters on them.’”
2 Chronicles 7:19-22
Solomon’s Temple was destroyed and rebuilt and then the Romans destroyed that temple in 70 AD. (Which Jesus predicted in Matthew 24 about 50 years before!) It has not been rebuilt since. What’s there now is just one wall known as the Wailing Wall. A Muslim mosque is on its site now.
God keeps His promises.
Jesus is Coming Back
And soon… The Rapture can happen any day now. We are living in the Last Days and the birth pains are getting stronger and more frequent.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
The Apostles Creed
That’s something we recite over and over again. It’s time for that line to really sink in. Jesus is coming back to judge the living and the dead — Judgement Day. It’s coming whether you believe in it or not.
Will Jesus say to you, “Well done, my good and faithful servant!” Or will he say…
‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’
Matthew 7:23
You really don’t want to wait until that day to repent of your sins, do you? Do it now!
Believe. Repent. Be Baptized. Receive the Holy Spirit.
- Believe — have Faith — that Jesus is the Christ and He died taking your sins away forever and that He rose from the dead 3 days later.
- Repent of your sins — stop sinning! Do a complete 180-degree turn in your life and surrender your life to Him. When you ask Jesus to forgive you He will. ALL your sins will be wiped clean — past, present, and future! And All means ALL!
- Be Baptized by water baptism — show the world and yourself that you have died to your old life and are born again in Christ.
- Receive the gift of Holy Spirit in your heart.
Invite Jesus into Your Heart and Receive the Gift of Grace, Joy, Peace, and the Confident Hope of Eternal Life…
Pray this prayer humbly and wholeheartedly…
“Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins. Please forgive me. Right now, I turn from my sins and open the door of my heart and my life to you. I confess You as my personal Lord and Savior. I will follow you for the rest of my life. Thank You, Jesus, for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
“And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come.”
Matthew 24:14 NLT
Are you ready?
Don’t forget the 5 Solas….
The 5 Solas
- Sola Scriptura (“Scripture alone”): The Bible alone is our highest authority.
- Sola Fide (“Faith alone”): We are saved through faith alone in Jesus Christ.
- Sola Gratia (“Grace alone”): We are saved by the grace of God alone.
- Solus Christus (“Christ alone”): Jesus Christ alone is our Savior, Redeemer, Lord, and King
- Soli Deo Gloria (“to God alone be the Glory.”): It’s all about God, not us.
