5th Day of Lent: The Last Supper – that comes during Holy Week on Holy Thursday, but it’s something most churches celebrate weekly — at least monthly. Some call it “Breaking Bread” others “Holy Communion”. Growing up Catholic, I knew it at the “Eucharist” — which actually means “thanksgiving”. When we take part in communion, we thank Jesus for His salvation.
Bible Verses in this Episode:
- Matthew 26:26-30
- Acts 2:46-47
- 1 Corinthians 11:23-32
I quote again from the Bible App Lenten Devotional “Journeying Through Lent” by Susan Narjala.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I sometimes get immune to the immensity of your grace. When I stop to ponder that Last Supper, I’m struck by the fact that you gave thanks for the bread and wine that represented your body and your blood. Thank you for your sacrifice. It’s something I’ll never be able to fully grasp but something that I receive with a heart of thanksgiving. Amen
Prayer to invite Jesus into your life:
“Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins. Please forgive me. Right now, I turn from my sins and open the door of my heart and life to you. I confess You as my personal Lord and Savior. I will follow you for the rest of my life. Thank You for saving me. Amen.”
