What are the 7 Deadly Sins?
- Pride: An excessive belief in one’s own abilities or a high sense of self-worth that puts oneself above others.
- Greed: An intense and selfish desire for money, wealth, or material possessions.
- Lust: A strong, uncontrolled craving for sexual pleasure. Also the lust of the eyes, which is yearning for something that looks good. This is what got Adam and Eve in trouble in the Garden.
- Envy: Sadness or resentment caused by seeing another person’s success, traits, or items.
- Gluttony: Overindulging or overconsuming food and drink. I see so many people in America who are morbidly obese. They are unhealthy, unwell. They’ll end up in the hospital.
- Wrath: Intense, uncontrolled anger or a desire for revenge. Vengeance is the Lord’s.
- Sloth: Extreme laziness, apathy, or failure to act and do what is right. Being the sluggard. We read a lot about the sluggard in the Book of Proverbs.
The craving of a sluggard will be the death of him,
Proverbs 21:25 NIV
because his hands refuse to work.
Notice that they all go together. The one thing they have in common is putting yourself first. Not GOD. That’s Humanism.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
