A few weeks ago a storm blew in and snapped off the two main branches of one of my tomato plants. It was in the daytime and I watched as 20 mph gusts just whipped my plant. After the storm, I went out and the two branches weren’t salvageable. I was mad because they had lots of flowers that would have soon turn into tomatoes. I had to throw them in the trash.
Yesterday, when I went out to water the plant, I noticed other, smaller branches were growing strong and blooming! Even though the two strongest branches were gone, the others were taking advantage that they could get more water and nourishment from the soil, and began to grow strong themselves.
In this next chapter of the Gospel of John, Jesus explains how God is the Great Gardener, and how He is the vine and we are the branches. As long as we stay attached to Him, we’re in good shape. This chapter continues with these teachings of Jesus which hold a lot of spiritual nourishment. Let’s dig in…..
Jesus said, “Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches.” ~ Revelation 3:22 NLT – this is repeated 14 times in scripture. Kind of gives the idea that God wants us to pay attention.
If you want to reap all the benefits of salvation including the 1-way, non-stop ticket to Heaven then…
Believe. Repent. Be Baptized. Receive the Holy Spirit.
Pray this prayer humbly and wholeheartedly…
“Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins. Please forgive me. Right now, I turn from my sins and open the door of my heart and my life to you. I confess You as my personal Lord and Savior. I surrender my whole life to you and I will follow you for the rest of my life. Thank You, Jesus, for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
Jesus is coming back soon! Are you ready?
