Beware of the Devil’s Evil Plan: A Global Rebellion Against God

Ever since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, Satan has been in a battle with God for mankind. Shortly after the scene in the garden, Cain committed the first murder. Here we we had anger, envy, jealousy and greed. In Genesis 6 God stated…

The Lord observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil. So the Lord was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke his heart. And the Lord said, “I will wipe this human race I have created from the face of the earth. Yes, and I will destroy every living thing—all the people, the large animals, the small animals that scurry along the ground, and even the birds of the sky. I am sorry I ever made them.” But Noah found favor with the Lord.

Genesis 6:5-8 NLT

So he flooded the earth and wiped everything out except for Noah and his family and the animals in the ark. (Genesis 6-10).

The Tower of Babel

Right after that, the people thought themselves godlike…

At one time all the people of the world spoke the same language and used the same words. As the people migrated to the east, they found a plain in the land of Babylonia and settled there.

They began saying to each other, “Let’s make bricks and harden them with fire.” (In this region bricks were used instead of stone, and tar was used for mortar.) Then they said, “Come, let’s build a great city for ourselves with a tower that reaches into the sky. This will make us famous and keep us from being scattered all over the world.”

But the Lord came down to look at the city and the tower the people were building. “Look!” he said. “The people are united, and they all speak the same language. After this, nothing they set out to do will be impossible for them! Come, let’s go down and confuse the people with different languages. Then they won’t be able to understand each other.”

In that way, the Lord scattered them all over the world, and they stopped building the city. That is why the city was called Babel, because that is where the Lord confused the people with different languages. In this way he scattered them all over the world.

Genesis 11:1-9 NLT

Before the Tower of Babel, there was no paganism or idol worship. Satan, the great deceiver, convinced people that they could create idols and man-made statues and worship them. This was the start of paganism. Instead of worshiping the creator, the creation (man) started worshiping creation itself — nature — then built (created) towers and statues to reflect the object of worship.

The First 2 Commandments

Why did God think it necessary to give mankind the 10 Commandments? Well, while the Israelites were captive slaves in Egypt, they worshiped the Egyptian gods, among committing other sins, of course. Why do you think God gave us the first 2 commandments forbidding idolatry?

“You must not have any other god but me.

“You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected—even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me. But I lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations on those who love me and obey my commands.

Exodus 20:3-6 NLT

Simple instructions, right? Then why is the rest of the Old Testament full of God’s admonitions mostly against idolatry? We start in the era of Judges and if you read through Judges, you’ll see over and over again this first line quoted here…

Judges and Beyond

11 The Israelites did evil in the Lord’s sight and served the images of Baal. 12 They abandoned the Lord, the God of their ancestors, who had brought them out of Egypt. They went after other gods, worshiping the gods of the people around them. And they angered the Lord. 13 They abandoned the Lord to serve Baal and the images of Ashtoreth. 14 This made the Lord burn with anger against Israel, so he handed them over to raiders who stole their possessions. He turned them over to their enemies all around, and they were no longer able to resist them. 15 Every time Israel went out to battle, the Lord fought against them, causing them to be defeated, just as he had warned. And the people were in great distress.

Judges 2:11-15 NLT

“Just as the devil succeeded in deceiving the generation of the Judges by convincing the Israelites that they could have Yahweh and the fertility gods of the Canaanites as well, the devil is deceiving our generation, saying that Christians can have Jesus and evolution as well, can have God the Father and Mother Earth, can have the Holy Spirit and a spirit of self-centeredness and materialism.”

How do you Recognize Spiritual Warfare?

Keep in mind that not everything that goes bad in your life or the world in general is spiritual warfare. We live in a fallen world (ever since Eden).

How it can look in our lives…

• Spiritual warfare most often happens right before or after God uses us for powerful ministry impact, or right before or after God moves in our own spiritual lives in a significant way.
• Spiritual warfare often comes in an attempt to steal our happiness in God and His work in our lives.

Spiritual Warfare in the World

The same can apply to governments, countries, cultures, etc. For instance, Easter 2020, in fact, the whole Holy Week, was like no other. Churches were shut down and had to resort to online, virtual services. This caused an awakening. Thousands and thousands of people turned to Jesus Christ! I’m sure Satan was not pleased at all.

Then, a few weeks later, just as churches are about to reopen and celebrate Pentecost, we had the killing of George Floyd and the subsequent “protests” and riots. They haven’t stopped. It’s the spirit of the Antichrist which John warned us is already in the world…

Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world. This is how we know if they have the Spirit of God: If a person claiming to be a prophet acknowledges that Jesus Christ came in a real body, that person has the Spirit of God. But if someone claims to be a prophet and does not acknowledge the truth about Jesus, that person is not from God. Such a person has the spirit of the Antichrist, which you heard is coming into the world and indeed is already here.

1 John 4:1-3 NLT

How do we Fight Spiritual Warfare?

“Unlike weapons of mass destruction, the Bible is a Weapon of Mass Instruction.”

Jim Denison

“God has promised us that He will cause our enemies who rise against us to be defeated before our faces. But we can get in the way of our blessing and leave room for the enemy to stand in our faces rather than fleeing seven ways. With that in mind, here are seven tactics to make the devil flee seven ways.”

YouVersion Devotional from Charisma House
  1. Diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God
  2. Repent before you engage in battle
  3. Know that God is on your side
  4. War from a position of victory
  5. Praise your way through
  6. Take up your armor
  7. Pray always and be watchful

To clearly hear the voice of God, and the truth, you need the Holy Spirit in your heart.

It’s as simple as…

Believe. Repent. Be Baptized. Receive the Holy Spirit.

  • Believe — have Faith — that Jesus is the Christ and He died taking your sins away forever and that He rose from the dead 3 days later.
  • Repent of your sins — stop sinning! Do a complete 180-degree turn in your life and surrender your life to Him. When you ask Jesus to forgive you He will. ALL your sins will be wiped clean — past, present, and future! And All means ALL!
  • Be Baptized by water baptism — show the world and yourself that you have died to your old life and are born again in Christ.
  • Receive the gift of Holy Spirit in your heart.

Invite Jesus into Your Heart and Receive the Gift of Grace, Joy, Peace, and the Confident Hope of Eternal Life…

If you truly want to be born again and have the assurance of salvation, receive the Holy Spirit, and get a 1-way, non-stop ticket to Heaven and that you won’t be left behind at the Rapture, this is what you have to do…

Pray this prayer humbly and wholeheartedly…

“Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins. Please forgive me. Right now, I turn from my sins and open the door of my heart and my life to you. I confess You as my personal Lord and Savior. I surrender my whole life to you and I will follow you for the rest of my life. Thank You, Jesus, for saving me and being with me as we fight Satan together. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
