4.30: Why don’t most Jews Believe that Jesus is the Messiah?

Today in Romans chapter 9, the Apostle Paul answers this question. After I was born again — 14 years ago — and started studying the Bible in a different light (with the Holy Spirit as a guide), in one of my groups, we asked, “Why don’t most Jews believe that Jesus is the Jewish Messiah?” I couldn’t get it. We talked about it and we couldn’t figure it out.

Last year, I attended the funeral of a colleague who happened to be Reformed Jewish. After the ceremony — which included the reading of several familiar Psalms — that question was hanging heavy in my heart.

About the same time, I had my DNA test done through Ancestry.com and I found out that I have 1% Sephardic Jewish DNA! I have the same DNA as Abraham and Jesus! Even before I was born again! I started seeing Jews and Israelites very differently. They were my kin. Literally. Trying to understand why the Jews didn’t recognize Jesus as their Messiah, the Spirit finally led me to the right New Testament scriptures that answered my question. It was an ah-ha moment for me.
