How Do You Get Unsurpassed Freedom in Jesus Christ?

Are You a Slave to Guilt or to God’s Righteousness?

Romans 6 is short, but it packs a mighty punch. If you believe that Jesus died taking away your sins on the cross, are you still sinning because you can get grace points when you ask for forgiveness? That’s being a salve to guilt. The Apostle Paul explains that we need to stop being salves to sin and guilt and become slaves of God’s righteousness.

Stop Sinning!

Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace?

Romans 6:1

If you’re a Catholic, think for a minute — and I’ve said this before…. Catholicism encourages sin with the notion that you can sin all you want during the week as long as you confess your sins to a human priest on Saturday, so you can attend Mass and receive Holy Communion on Sunday.

Paul Continues…

Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.

Romans 6:2-4

Catholic Baby Baptism Means Nothing

The symbolism of an adult — or a child at least at the Age of Accountability — being totally immersed in water, then lifted up to new life in the Holy Spirit, is replicating Jesus’ death taking our sin away and His resurrection.

Paul explains further…

Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him.We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God. So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.

Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires. Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.

Well then, since God’s grace has set us free from the law, does that mean we can go on sinning? Of course not! Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living. Thank God! Once you were slaves of sin, but now you wholeheartedly obey this teaching we have given you. Now you are free from your slavery to sin, and you have become slaves to righteous living.

Because of the weakness of your human nature, I am using the illustration of slavery to help you understand all this. Previously, you let yourselves be slaves to impurity and lawlessness, which led ever deeper into sin. Now you must give yourselves to be slaves to righteous living so that you will become holy.

When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the obligation to do right. And what was the result? You are now ashamed of the things you used to do, things that end in eternal doom. But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 6:5-23

Do Not Be a Slave to the Catholic Church!

Because Jesus died on the cross taking our sins away once and for all, we no longer have an obligation to sin, but an obligation to righteousness. Paul couldn’t have made it any plainer…

Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires.

Romans 6:12

And that goes for everyone who claims to be Christian — even Catholics.

Do not become a salve to sin.

Do not become a salve to guilt.

Do not become a salve to the Catholic Church.

Become Holy!

Here is what you have to do to get on the right path to righteousness:

Believe. Repent. Be Baptized. Receive the Holy Spirit.

  • Believe — have Faith — that Jesus is the Christ and He died taking your sins away forever and that He rose from the dead 3 days later.
  • Repent of your sins — stop sinning! Do a complete 180-degree turn in your life and surrender your life to Him. When you ask Jesus to forgive you He will. ALL your sins will be wiped clean — past, present, and future! And All means ALL!
  • Be Baptized by water baptism — show the world and yourself that you have died to your old life and are born again in Christ.
  • Receive the gift of Holy Spirit in your heart.

Invite Jesus into Your Heart and Receive the Gift of Grace, Joy, Peace, and the Confident Hope of Eternal Life…

Totally surrender your life to Jesus Christ — every part of it. That will guarantee you a 1-way, non-stop ticket to Heaven! (There’s no such thing as Purgatory, by the way — that, too is Catholic invention.)

Pray this prayer humbly and wholeheartedly…

“Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins. Please forgive me. Right now, I turn from my sins and open the door of my heart and life to you. I confess You as my personal Lord and Savior. I will follow you for the rest of my life. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Soli Deo Gloria — to God Alone be the Glory!
