The next-to-the-last Psalm continues the series of praise songs. This one instructs and encourages the whole faithful assembly to praise the Lord with songs and scripture. We, the faithful, are called to praise the Lord. Praise is a sacrifice of sorts, where we show God how much we revere, love, and honor Him. Let’s dig in…
Psalm 149
Praise the Lord. [Halleluyah]
Sing to the Lord a new song,
his praise in the assembly of his faithful people.2 Let Israel rejoice in their Maker;
let the people of Zion be glad in their King.
3 Let them praise his name with dancing
and make music to him with timbrel and harp.
4 For the Lord takes delight in his people;
he crowns the humble with victory.
5 Let his faithful people rejoice in this honor
and sing for joy on their beds.6 May the praise of God be in their mouths
and a double-edged sword in their hands,
7 to inflict vengeance on the nations
and punishment on the peoples,
8 to bind their kings with fetters,
their nobles with shackles of iron,
9 to carry out the sentence written against them—
this is the glory of all his faithful people.Praise the Lord.
Psalm 149 NIV
Again, I turn to Pastor Sandy Adams for commentary…
Notice again, God loves a new song. New experiences with
God spawn new songs. Just as a fresh tomato is a sign that a
tomato plant is growing in the soil, a new song is a sign God’s
love is growing in a heart.God takes pleasure when His people praise Him.
Notice the weapons of the saints! Look in their mouths and hands. “The high praises of God” and “a two-edged sword” – praise and Scripture.
When Jesus returns we’ll swing more than a scriptural sword – we’ll be using a real blade. It’ll be our honor to act as His agents in executing justice. We’ll all work for the Justice Department. Today, the saints preach the Word of God with love and compassion. In that day, we’ll be its enforcers.

That’s what a true church service should be like — praise and Scripture.. Praise God, our Creator, Savior, and King, then study the Bible — the Word of God.

The Power of the Bible
Growing up Roman Catholic, I was deprived of the Bible. What they taught me was very watered-down Bible stories with no significance and no Salvation. Today, I can’t get enough of it. Plus, I’m called to be a “voice crying in the wilderness”. The wilderness today is the Internet and social media, which is why I do what I do. Here are some verses that should convince you to study the Bible…
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12 NIV
Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Ephesians 6:17 NIV
And finally, when Jesus comes back…
In his right hand, he held seven stars, and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.
Revelation 1:16 NIV
Jesus is the Lord, and we, His faithful saints, should praise Him with our songs, our gifts, our service, and by obeying the Word. You have to study the Bible to be able to OBEY the Bible. If you don’t have a Bible, download the free Bible app. I also recommend Through The Word.
Praise the Lord!

Isn’t it about time you let Him in?
