10.17: Worshiping Idols is Wrong: As Christians we Worship One God

Today, we’re in 1 Corinthians chapter 8. Chapter 7 of 1 Corinthians continues Paul’s discussion on sex and marriage. Not being married, I’ll let you read it for yourselves and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal its truth to you. I again defer to ThroughTheWord.org and their excellent lessons on each chapter of the Bible.

In chapter 8, Paul brings up the subject of eating food sacrificed to idols. That was a problem in Corinth given that they were a pagan society that worshiped and venerated a bevy of Greek gods. The Romans copied the Greek gods and changed their names. Zeus became Jupiter, and so on. Constantine copied the Roman pagan rituals and called them Christian to entice pagans to join the Christian church in the 4th century. Yes, that’s where all the pagan rites, rituals, vestments, rosary beads, incense burning, etc. came from. I detail that in this article.

Idolatry by any other name, is still idolatry.

Let’s see what Paul has to say…

If you want to reap all the benefits of salvation including the 1-way, non-stop ticket to Heaven then…

Believe. Repent. Be Baptized. Receive the Holy Spirit.

Pray this prayer humbly and wholeheartedly…

“Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins. Please forgive me. Right now, I turn from my sins and open the door of my heart and my life to you. I confess You as my personal Lord and Savior. I surrender my whole life to you and I will follow you for the rest of my life. Thank You, Jesus, for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Jesus is coming back soon! Are you ready?
