How does every created being praise the Lord? How can we humans praise Him accordingly? Psalm 148 tells us. I’ll break this one up into parts to better grasp its marvelous meaning. More than likely, this psalm was written after the 70-year exile and the rebuilding of the temple and Jerusalem. It was a joyous atmosphere. Let’s dig in…
Psalm 148

Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord from the heavens!
Psalm 148: 1-6 NLT
Praise him from the skies!
2 Praise him, all his angels!
Praise him, all the armies of heaven!
3 Praise him, sun and moon!
Praise him, all you twinkling stars!
4 Praise him, skies above!
Praise him, vapors high above the clouds!
5 Let every created thing give praise to the Lord,
for he issued his command, and they came into being.
6 He set them in place forever and ever.
His decree will never be revoked.
How Does Creation — Nature — Praise the Lord?

We actually get that answer from another Psalm — one of my favorites — Psalm 19.
The heavens proclaim the glory of God.
Psalm 19:1-4 NLT
The skies display his craftsmanship.
2 Day after day they continue to speak;
night after night they make him known.
3 They speak without a sound or word;
their voice is never heard.
4 Yet their message has gone throughout the earth,
and their words to all the world.
God Created Creation!
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.
3 Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day” and the darkness “night.”
And evening passed and morning came, marking the first day.
6 Then God said, “Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens from the waters of the earth.” 7 And that is what happened. God made this space to separate the waters of the earth from the waters of the heavens. 8 God called the space “sky.”
Genesis 1:1-8 NLT
Creation is AWESOME!
This is why we should RESPECT God — be in AWE of HIM. That means be God-Fearing. My friend, Frank Turek, explains it nicely…
Continuing with the Psalm…
Now instead of looking up, we are looking around…

7 Praise the Lord from the earth,
you creatures of the ocean depths,
8 fire and hail, snow and clouds,
wind and weather that obey him,
9 mountains and all hills,
fruit trees and all cedars,
10 wild animals and all livestock,
small scurrying animals and birds,
11 kings of the earth and all people,
rulers and judges of the earth,
12 young men and young women,
old men and children.13 Let them all praise the name of the Lord.
For his name is very great;
his glory towers over the earth and heaven!
14 He has made his people strong,
honoring his faithful ones—
the people of Israel who are close to him.Praise the Lord!
Psalm 148:7-14 NLT
God’s Glory Towers Over the Earth!

We are too distracted. We need to take a few minutes every day to just walk outside and look around. Look at nature, even if you live in a big city, like I do, nature is all around you. Maybe you’ll see the seedling sprouting from between cracks in a wall or sidewalk. Or look at a tree changing color in the fall or blooming in the spring.
Everything that blooms is praising God by doing what God created it to do, which includes us humans!
God created YOU — in HIS IMAGE — to do something, too!
And all He wants in return is Praise, Gratitude, and Obedience. Simple, right?
“Does not all nature around me praise God? If I were silent, I would be an exception to the universe. Does not thunder praise Him…? Do not the mountains praise Him…? Does not lightning write His name in letters of fire?
Charles Spurgeon
Has not the whole earth a voice? And shall I, can I, be silent?”
Are the People of Israel close to God?
Since October 7, 2023, the people of Israel are growing closer to God. Yes, there are a few “Messianic Believers” who are “completed Jews”. I pray for the peace of Israel and Jerusalem, but I pray that it’s a peace (Shalom) that’s rooted in both Jew and Gentile knowing Jesus as Yeshuah Hamashiach – the Jewish Messiah.
As Psalm 46 says…
“Be still, and know that I am God!
Psalm 46:10 NLT
I will be honored by every nation.
I will be honored throughout the world.”
Praise the Lord!

Isn’t it about time you let Him in?
