Two major stories dominated global news this week: the tragic fire in Maui, Hawaii and the continuing military coup in Niger. How are both of these events tied to Bible Prophecy? As you will see, the situation in Niger falls under wars and rumors of wars, as well as economic chaos. The Maui fire falls under seismic events, which are increasing in frequency and intensity.
Jesus told us…
7 And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately. 8 Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes (seismic events) in many parts of the world, as well as famines. But this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come.

This is found in His Olivet Discourse in Matthew 24, Luke 21, and Mark 13. Notice He said, “But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come.”

The Ukrainian counterattack since it failed, Ukraine officially announced today that it is evacuating at least 37 settlements in the Kopiansk area, the Eastern Front. There are also plans to evacuate dozens of settlements in the Kharkov area due to the intensity of Russian fire, which destroys everything.

- Russia and China send large Naval patrols Near Alaska prompting the US to send destroyers.
- On Tuesday, Chinese officials confirmed that China and Russia had recently carried out patrols near Alaskan shores, and hinted that such patrols will likely increase in number. China Tells the US: “Get Used to It”

- The Iranian-American deal: 5 American citizens for 6 billion dollars that will be transferred from banks in South Korea. The United States didn’t just negotiate a hostage deal with Iran – they’ve negotiated a secret nuclear deal too and repeatedly lied to press and Congress about it.
- The former Commander-in-Chief of the IRGC and Vice President of Iran for Economic Affairs. He calls for taking a thousand Americans hostage and getting billions for them to solve “part of our economic problems”.
- The old Sunni-Shiite war isn’t over: Iranian sources say that thousands of Taliban fighters are on their way to the Iranian border with Afghanistan.
- There was an assassination attempt on Lebanese Defense Minister Maurice Salim in Jisr Al Bacha region of Beirut.
- Massive explosion reported at port in Derince, east of Istanbul, Turkey. 13 grain silos were destroyed.

- Sadly, some Lao Christians have renounced their faith due to pressure from local authorities and the community. Pray they will continue to worship God in their hearts even when they cannot publicly proclaim their faith.
- India: Pastor, wife, and 3-year-old son jailed on charges of luring innocent people to Christianity.
- Benin: Pastor’s Wife Killed by Islamists. Benin is a small country bordering western Nigeria. It is the birthplace of voodoo, and Christianity is viewed by many in the north as a threat to their traditional beliefs.

in the Last Days!
Obviously, there is bad news all over the world. Nevertheless, there is also great news — signs of hope — that born-again Christians are doing what Jesus told us to do in the Great Commission and before He left us.
- American Nurse and her daughter were released ‘Unharmed’ following Abduction in Haiti.
- Chile – Church Mission Society: Local partner Christian Donoso and his wife Faby lead a church plant in Concepción, Chile. Pray for them and the team as they continue to lead the church in reaching out to those around them, specifically through gathering people for meals. Pray for God to prompt members of the church to invite specific people both to events and into their homes.
- Pakistan (AsiaLink): Give thanks for the vision behind a new outreach project that our partners have developed in Pakistan. After some setbacks, a building has been secured to host English language classes and computer skills training. Please pray that those who attend will be open to gospel conversations.
- Nepal: Please pray for AsiaLink’s partner in Nepal who hosts a Zoom bible class each week for those who are eager to grow in their faith. Pray that many in the group will catch the vision for outreach and evangelism and join in the great task of sharing the gospel among the people of Nepal.
- Vietnam: Pray for local churches in remote areas of Vietnam. Pray that the fellowship in these congregations will nurture a powerful community of disciples who boldly share God’s Word and live out the gospel.
- Thailand – BMS World Mission: Praise God that BMS’ partnership with the Thailand Karen Baptist Convention (TKBC) has enabled the training and sending of women evangelists to plant churches. Pray God’s wisdom for BMS workers Paul and Sarah Brown as they work with TKBC.
- Bangladesh: Today we are praying for Nipon, a gospel worker serving in the Barisal district in southern Bangladesh. He received a motorbike through AsiaLink’s On-Your-Bike scheme and puts it to good use as he travels many miles sharing the gospel and encouraging believers in their faith.
- Lebanon: Praise God for the several Christian radio and TV outlets in Lebanon that are able to broadcast the Word of God daily to the wider Arab world. Pray that the message of salvation will reach those who do not yet know the love of Jesus.
- India – Al Massira: Please pray for India and for the follow up to the Al Massira (AM) trainings held in two cities in February. Please pray for a Prayer Coordinator from within-country to inspire and disseminate prayer requests and for a local team to be established. Pray for a like-minded Sister in the UK, recently connected to AM who is reaching out to BHB (Believers from a Hindu Background). May AM be used widely to help support God’s people in His work in reaching all nations with the Gospel.
