• After setting up a production line in Russia, Iran is about to sign a joint production agreement and set up an assembly plant for the Shahad 136 suicide drone on Belarusian soil.
• An oil depot was destroyed by the Russians in Izmail, Ukraine. This is only 15km from the Romanian border on the Danube River.
• The Russians continue to destroy Ukrainian grain stores. (See the famine section.)
• Ready for Battle: Following the Wagner Group presence in Belarus and the growing danger posed by them to the neighboring countries, the armies of Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia moved forces to the border with Belarus.
• Breaking: There are reports of a Russian ballistic missile launched from Belarus towards Ukraine today.

Jesus warned us, “Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.” The Greek word for “nation” is “ethnos” from which we get our words “ethnic” and “ethnicity”. It’s also translated as “people group” against “people group”.

This is found in His Olivet Discourse in Matthew 24, Luke 21, and Mark 13. Additionally, He said, “But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come.”

• Israeli report warns Iran is helping Syria develop chemical weapons
• The Syrian Foreign Minister said during a press conference with his Iranian counterpart, “It is better for the American army to withdraw from Syria before it is forced to do so.”

• Slovenia: “A month of rainfall in 24 hours!”
• China: Beijing was hit by 2 typhoons in 2 weeks and is flooded. Over 850,000 people told to move in hours from Hebei because of flooding in nearby Beijing. They are flooding a suburb of Beijing to relieve the floodwaters in the larger city. “Some houses are too damaged to be habitable.” Home owners can get only 70% of their home’s value. They got 29.3″ of rain in 36 hours.
• Typhoon Khanun hit Japan islands of Okinawa with wind gusts up to 100 mph.
• India: 649+ mm (25+”) of rain in 24 hours.

Famine

More Ukrainian grain destroyed: This week, Russian drones attacked grain warehouses and elevators in Ukraine and destroyed an estimated 40,000 tons of grain. According to Ukrainian deputy prime minister, the grain was destined for Africa, China, and Israel.
 
Russia has not yet returned to the grain treaty it once upheld, saying that it refuses to do so until certain sanctions against Russia are lifted. (Foreshadows)

Recovering from the Turkey/Syria Earthquakes

Syria: Pray for the families who lost their homes in the earthquake that hit the region in February. Give thanks that, through Open Doors local partners, the first houses have been restored. Many families are still benefiting from rent-support. Pray for stamina for our local church partners and that their support will give people hope and strength to stay in Syria.

• For the first time in history, a massive solar eruption slams into Earth, the moon, and Mars at once.
• High temperatures are not supposed to go above 100 degrees Fahrenheit in South America in the middle of winter.

Pestilence

• Invasive and toxic Hammerhead Worms appear in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.
• CDC warns that red meat allergy caused by tick bites is an “emerging public health concern”. In other words, don’t go camping in the woods, then barbecue a steak.
• Georgia resident dies from rare brain-eating amoeba, health officials say
• Texas man nearly dies from a skin rash that turned out to be a case of leprosy.
• Now we are being told that cases of Leprosy are beginning to surge in Central Florida.
• Two people in Michigan have tested positive for a rare mosquito-borne virus with a 50% hospitalization rate.
• The rise of the “superbugs” is here. The death toll is already in the millions each year, and it won’t be too long before that number dramatically increases!
• Rare alien-like viruses are discovered in New England soil that feature never before seen tentacles and star-like shapes.

• Over 1,800 Islamist terrorist attacks in the first 6 months of 2023 in West Africa (On top of the coup in Niger.)

The Coup in Niger & its Economic Impact

Niger announced the cessation of uranium exports to France.

During the military coup in Niger last week, its Franco-Western president was ousted. The new leader, close to Russia, announced the cessation of uranium exports to France.

Niger is considered the fourth largest exporter of uranium in the world and is responsible for approximately 25% of the supply of uranium to the nuclear power plants in the European Union. It is responsible for 8% of the world’s uranium output.

French companies own 63% of the uranium mines in Niger. The cessation of exports is definitely a serious problem for the French. In addition, it was reported that Burkina Faso also announced the cessation of uranium exports to France and the US. The battle in Africa between Russia and the West is stepping up.

Russia reopened its embassy in Burkina Faso.

• Vietnam: Remote villages in Vietnam are particularly hostile to Christianity. Believers are asked to renounce their faith or risk losing access to water. Pray these believers remain strong and steadfast in their faith.
• Belarus: The people of Belarus have faced religious persecution, but this has not stopped more and more people from coming to Christ. The government limits religious freedom, but many Belarusian people continue to become followers of Jesus. (EEM – Eastern European Mission)
• Pakistan: A persecuted Christian in Pakistan, Ifran, won’t abandon God.
• India: Hindu Nationalists Injure Four Christians in Attack in Central India. When the four Christians refused to deny their faith in Christ, the mob beat them with sticks and stones. They were rushed to the hospital with police protection. 
• Bangladesh: Mahafuza*, 48, was attacked returning home from evening prayer at her church. She was hospitalized for her injuries. Mahafuza declared to her attackers, “I love sharing the gospel, and so I do it!” Praise God for her unwavering courage and her devotion to spreading the gospel. Pray for a rapid recovery and that she will remain strong in her faith.

Extreme Beginnings – VOM

On a beautiful autumn day in 1967, the couple sat before their old typewriter on the tiny kitchen table in their new home–the United States. It wasn’t that long ago that Pastor Richard Wurmbrand had sat in a cold, dark Romanian prison cell for his work in the underground church. His wife, Sabina, had been sentenced to forced labor in a prison camp.

The couple now pondered the message that God had given them. They wanted to share the trials and triumphs facing persecuted Christians in Communist countries worldwide. The couple had been threatened by the Romanian secret police not to speak against Communism, but the intimidation could not stop them. They were compelled to raise the voice of Christ’s suffering body–a voice that had been overlooked and forgotten by many in the free world.

The words flowed easily onto the pages, and before long, they had their first edition of the Voice of the Martyrs newsletter. They began with only one hundred dollars and a few hundred names and addresses from Christians who were interested in how they could help.

The vision that was birthed in a solitary prison cell has now grown into a worldwide organization dedicated to serving the persecuted church. Millions of subsequent The Voice of the Martyrs newsletters have been distributed around the globe in more than a dozen languages.

Start somewhere. That’s where good ideas in God’s service always begin–somewhere. Serving Christ means it doesn’t matter where you start or when or how–as long as you start.

Many keep delaying their dreams instead of beginning somewhere. We tell ourselves we will serve Christ someday: when the kids are grown up and out of the house; when we finally get the bills paid off and are able to tithe. Each time we say that, we will start serving Christ after we finish something else, we have missed the point of our calling.

What is God calling you to do? Not when is he calling you to do it, what is it he wants done? What are you doing now to begin fulfilling his call?

• Syria: Pray for the expansion of our team of local partners of Open Doors UK in Syria. Give thanks for successful recruits and pray for wisdom and unity in the team as they seek to build God’s kingdom in Syria.
• Iraq: Open Doors partners ran a Bible competition in Iraq to help young people understand the Bible more and apply it to their lives. “I got to know the characters from the Bible better,” says Wiam, who took part. “I can apply the lessons in real life. I learned a lot that I can teach to others and give them hope.” Pray that Wiam can pass on what he has learned to others.
• AsiaLink HistoryMakers: Today we are praying for the second team of young adults as they travel to Southeast Asia. Please pray that they will be able to carry many bibles into restricted lands and bless the church there. Ask God to protect and guide each member of the team as they serve.
• Japan: Many aspects of Japanese culture are heavily influenced by Shintoism which venerates deities, divinities, spirits, mythological, spiritual, or natural phenomena, or holy powers. Please pray for the Christian churches in Japan as they shine for Christ in this spiritually dark land. 
• China: Pray for a man living in a very isolated mountain village in China who has made over 100 visits to an evangelistic website. He spent 2 days listening to a selection of readings covering 50 bible stories from Creation to Christ. Please pray that he will trust Christ as his Saviour.
• Mexico: Several Open Doors’ teams in Mexico are training indigenous and urban communities in discipleship. Pray that Christ works through these trainers to help build strong believers who will be salt and light to their neighbors.

Bangladesh: Woman Finds Freedom After Traumatic Attack

When Raissa was a teen, she was kidnapped and raped by a group of Muslim men who wanted to punish her father, a Christian pastor. For years, Raissa felt trapped in her home, unable to leave without being taunted, threatened and retraumatized by her attackers, who had faced no consequences.

Raissa asked for help relocating to a larger city where she could be free of her attackers and pursue education and a career. Front-line workers helped her secure an apartment and begin her studies. They also connected her to a ministry that helps women who have been trafficked. She works part-time on their administrative staff while receiving therapy and support to aid her own healing.

Raissa’s family is joyful that she is finally experiencing freedom. Through VOM, Raissa’s family was also able to drill a well and build a fence around their home.
