Biden Orders 3,000 Military Reservists to Eastern Europe

Yesterday, Biden issued an executive order that authorizes the Pentagon to deploy up to 3,000 US reservists to serve as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve, which helps supply combat-ready forces meant to support the defense of NATO countries.
 
The White House said, “This reaffirms the…commitment to defend NATO’s eastern flank in the wake of Russia’s illegal and unprovoked war on Ukraine.”
 
This raises two big questions: Why this sudden order immediately after the NATO summit takes place earlier this week? And are NATO and the US concerned that Russia might expand its war to other countries that border Ukraine?
 
The 3,000 reservists would add to the already 20,000 military personnel the US has sent to Europe since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

At the NATO Summit, NATO leaders agreed new defense plans to protect and defend every inch of Allied territory. It’s funny that countries that can’t even protect their own borders from illegal immigration (with the infiltration of radicals and terrorists) are so eager to defend other countries. Russia Accuses the West of Bringing World War 3 Closer

During the NATO summit which took place in Lithuania, several countries have promised more weapons and financial support to Ukraine.

In response, Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy secretary of Russia’s Security Council, wrote a Telegram post saying, “The completely crazy West could not come up with anything else…In fact, it’s a dead end. World War Three is getting closer.”

Jesus warned us, “Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.” The Greek word for “nation” is “ethnos” from which we get our words “ethnic” and “ethnicity”. It’s also translated as “people group” against “people group”.

Last week I reported that there had been a decrease in earthquakes and an increase in volcanoes. One of the areas showing increase earthquake swarms was Iceland. The earthquakes calmed out because 2 dormant volcanoes erupted in full force. Gratefully, the are where these volcanoes are is uninhabited. But it does make a great show…

They said, “Here is the peace that we have been searching for.” These Hindu monks want to learn more about this peace. Pastor Amar and other believers are meeting with the monks to share more about Christ. Pray that these monks will come to believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.
• Syria: Pray for the SPARK training programme which focuses on training young people in servant leadership. Give thanks for the 72 young people taking part and pray that what they learn will bear much fruit in their churches and communities.
• Middle East: There are now 150 Centers of Hope in Iraq and 287 in Syria, established to help hurting people meet and walk with Jesus. Pray that those who come through the doors will encounter Christ.
• Chile – Church Mission Society: Local partner Christian Donoso and his wife Faby lead a church plant in Concepción, Chile. Pray for them and the team as they continue to lead the church in reaching out to those around them, specifically through gathering people for meals. Pray for God to prompt members of the church to invite specific people both to events and into their homes.
• Iraq: Open Doors’ partner organizations are helping people establish businesses through our churchbased Centers of Hope ministry. Pray these initiatives continue to grow and thrive.
• Sri Lanka: Many young Muslims from a very sensitive, restricted country come to study and work in Sri Lanka. A small team of Christian young people are reaching out to them through social media and friendship evangelism. Pray that many will discover Jesus … the Way, the Truth and the Life.
• Middle East: ‘Go Sports’ is a new discipleship training programme in Egypt and Syria that brings young people together to play basketball, volleyball and football as well as teaching them the Bible and how to apply it in their daily life. From each group two participants become coaches of a new group. Pray that this initiative will inspire young leaders and equip them to spread God’s Word.
• India: Please pray for 300 middle-caste Hindus who now have access to clean drinking water after AsiaLink partners recently sunk a well in their village in Uttar Pradesh. Pray too for Pastor Singh who is regularly witnessing among the villagers with a view to planting a church there.
• North Macedonia – WorldShare: Praise God for the women’s conference with the Evangelical Church in Veles, North Macedonia, which had about 300 attendees. Pray in particular for those who attended that are not yet believers, that the Good News that was heard would bear fruit in their lives. Pray for the evangelistic work with Albanian Muslims that is happening through personal relationships with the Evangelical Church in Tetovo. Pray that those individuals will come to faith and that there will be much fruit from the evangelism events planned in June across various cities which will focus mainly on the young people.
