• The Russian Security Council has declared that President Vladimir Putin should feel free to sever undersea communication cables of the country’s “enemies.”
• Putin’s speech at the economic forum in St. Petersburg main points…
  • The Russian Federation will attack F-16s, even if they are not in Ukraine.
  • 5 Patriot systems were destroyed near Kiev.
  • Attacks on the Kremlin and the Belgorod region are attempts to provoke serious retaliatory actions by Russia.”
  • During the counterattack, Ukraine has already lost more than 600 tanks and armored vehicles.
  • Very soon Ukraine will not be able to fight because it will run out of equipment.
  • The ratio of Russian losses to Ukrainian losses is 1 to 10.

• Philippine, US, Japanese coast guards carry out anti-terror drill in disputed waters

I pray for the innocent people who are suffering, caught up in the midst of the conflicts. Guard them and provide for their needs, health, and safety. Strengthen & guide those who are fleeing the violence. Give them wisdom & peace.

I pray for the power-hungry bullies, may they all know Jesus as the true Prince of Peace.

Increased Christian Persecution

• City council members in Pennsylvania back police for arresting a man for quoting scripture at “Pride Rally”.
• Vietnam: In Vietnam, believers can be imprisoned on false charges and tortured. Sadly, Pastor Phuc recently died in prison, and his family suspects he was beaten. Pray for God’s comfort over his family as they grieve.
• Myanmar: It’s over two years since the military coup, which has exacerbated Myanmar’s long-running civil war. The impact on Christians has been catastrophic, with many targeted because they’re mistakenly viewed with suspicion by opposing sides. Pray for the healing of traumatised believers, and that people will see the good deeds of Christians and glorify God (1 Peter 2:12).
• Central Asia: Recently the state has started recruiting believers to spy on secret believers. This development has caused an atmosphere of doubt and suspicion. Pray that this new challenge will bring believers closer to God, and not deter them from their faith.
• India: Religious Facet Seen in Ethnic Violence in Manipur
• Nigeria: Fulani Terrorists Kill 46 Christians in Benue State
• Democratic Republic of Congo: Pastor Jean was left traumatised after his church was bombed by ADF militants, killing 15 people. Thank God that, after receiving trauma care and help to relocate through Open Doors partners, he has found hope and has started leading a congregation again. “The Bible tells us not to be afraid because God is with us,” he says. “That is my consolation. Even if we are persecuted, our tears will be wiped.”
• Niger: Saratu* (18) came to know Jesus after living with a Christian family to enable her to attend school, as there were no schools in her village. When her parents found out, they threatened to disown her unless she married a Muslim. Ask the Lord to strengthen Saratu to stand firm in her faith, and pray that her family will have a change of heart and allow her to return to school.

• Japan: Japanese culture has a fascination with Manga illustrated comics. Pray for the preparation and distribution of manga-style bible teaching materials that are reaching children in both printed and digital format. Please pray that many will trust Christ and grow in their faith through these resources.
• VOM: Bhutan: Though evangelism is restricted in the isolated, majority-Buddhist country of Bhutan and believers face serious consequences when their faith is known, Christians continue to boldly share Christ. Front-line workers in Bhutan report that many children’s programs impact churches throughout Bhutan. One local ministry reaches more than 500 children through 30 Bible clubs, while 224 local churches host programs with more than 4,000 children involved. VOM has been able to distribute Christmas Care Packs and children’s Bibles through many of these outreaches.
• Sri Lanka: Today we are praying for a small team of video editors and sound engineers who are preparing bible teaching material that will be broadcast on television and radio throughout Sri Lanka. Pray also for those translating, preparing and presenting bible messages for this vital ministry.
• Somalia: “I started to look for more videos and found others that shared the Word of God.” Despite the risks, even death from her own family or tribe, Nala* chose to follow Jesus. Pray that she finds fellowship and remains safe.
• AsiaLink Pakistan: Today we are praying for a young couple who recently heard of Jesus for the first time. They had many conversations with the Christians over a few months and trusted Christ. They have been baptised and are now eager to follow the Lord. Please pray for their spiritual growth.
• Brazil – Church Mission Society: CMS mission partners Marcio Ciechanovicz and Noemi Celeti and their four children moved from the UK to São Paulo, Brazil, in January. They are connecting with people beyond the reach of traditional church, sharing the gospel and ministering to people’s physical needs. Pray for each member of the family as they continue to settle in and for God to prepare the way for them as they explore the city and make new connections.

Vietnam

My friend with Scriptures in Use is back from his trip to Vietnam and he had another story to tell…

One of the leaders has a church (the one we visited) that is pretty westernized. Most of the members are highly educated and have connected through English clubs and western/bookish bibles studies. One of the things they realized though, was that when they went back to their immediate & extended families — the western/book culture tools didn’t work. Their family didn’t understand or relate. The main leader helped them transition to using traditional Oral Culture methods (storytelling, songs, drama, etc) and the church members were amazed at how much more open their families were to the message. They understood!

They showed us a picture of a recent church plant out in the country where an entire family was baptized in May 2023 in response to Storytelling. They were turning the stories into local Folk songs and were belting them out in their neighborhoods with Karaoke machines!!! They also said the story memorization has been very helpful because in many of the remote areas there are frequent power outages which makes reading at night very difficult. Not a problem when you can quote stories in the dark!

When we first met this network 4 years ago, they were in the beginning stages of created a network of Evangelical denominations in Vietnam. As of this year, they have 39 different Denominations that have come together for the purpose of seeing the unreached reached in Vietnam. This is amazing! We ere able to meet with the president of this alliance and trained many of the leaders back in 2019. They are very excited about equipping with Traditional Oral Culture tools and recognize it’s a valuable approach for Vietnamese Culture. Please pray as we plan for the Next full training hopefully this fall back in Vietnam.
