When you look at everything that’s going on in the world right now, do wonder, “What’s going on?” Interestingly enough, Jesus predicted everything that’s happening today almost 2000 years ago! It’s all in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. Paul also warned us about the Last Days, as did John, the Revelator, and the prophets of the Old Testament!
Going forward, each Saturday, I’ll present a wrap-up or summary of the week’s news and match it to something in the Bible. I pray that your eyes will be opened and realize that Bible Prophecy is not meant to scare us, but to warn us and give us hope of a better world to come. Let’s dig in…
The Olivet Discourse — Signs of the Last Days
Let’s start with Matthew 24…
Jesus had just finished telling off the Jewish leaders in chapter 23. By the way, that’s always a fun read as it describes today’s religious leaders…
As Jesus was leaving the Temple grounds, his disciples pointed out to him the various Temple buildings. 2 But he responded, “Do you see all these buildings? I tell you the truth, they will be completely demolished. Not one stone will be left on top of another!”
3 Later, Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives. His disciples came to him privately and said, “Tell us, when will all this happen? What sign will signal your return and the end of the world (or age)?”
4 Jesus told them, “Don’t let anyone mislead you, 5 for many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately. 7 Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.”
Matthew 24:1-7 NLT
Wars and Threats (Rumors) of Wars
In Greek, the word “Nation” is “ethnos” — from where we get the word for ethnicity or ethnic. Consequently, that covers not just a country invading another country, but an ethnic group fighting another ethnic group. Currently, we have…

- Ukraine, who’s been provoking Russia since 2014, when they invited Crimea. War was a long-time coming.

Ezekiel 38!
Next: Famines & Earthquakes
“There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world.”
Matthew 24:7b NLT
Economic Woes Leading to Famines
The war in Ukraine triggered the fuel crisis, which triggered the food crisis, which triggered the currency crisis.
- Somalia avoids famine declaration as hunger spreads
- UN agencies warn again of record hunger next year in West and Central Africa
- Domestic food price inflation remains high around the world.
- Feds (U.S.) prepare for energy and diesel shortages
- Nigeria bans ATM cash withdrawals over $225 a week to force the use of CBDC
What’s CBDC?
CBDC stands for Central Bank Digital Currency. If you want to know more, check out the videos at the bottom.

Earthquakes and Volcanoes Increase
Daily, I check the Quakefeed app and there are always at least 200 earthquakes or more in the EMSC 1-day feed of 1.0 magnitude or higher.

The Volcano Discovery app shows 46 active volcanoes around the world. Including 2 in the “Big Island” of Hawaii — Mauna Loa & Kilauea.

Then Jesus said…
“But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come.”
Matthew 24:8 NLT
Now, I’ve never had a child, but I know how birth pains work. They start light and far apart. As the baby comes close to delivery, they become stronger in intensity and more frequent. In other words, it’s going to get way worse before Jesus comes for His Bride, His True Believers, the Church.
Increased Persecution of Christians
9 “Then you will be arrested, persecuted, and killed. You will be hated all over the world because you are my followers (on account of my name).”
Matthew 24:9 NLT
Jeremy Malkin, who oversees VOM’s international ministry work in west and central Africa, explains that animistic and Muslim communities sense the power of Christians gathering together, and they often respond with violence and persecution towards our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Jeremy shares the story of one of our brothers in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Matendo, who was abducted by an armed group of Muslims targeting Christians. He was beaten and threatened for his witness, causing long-term damage to his body, yet he is praising God for miraculously sparing his life…

Watch for the Signs of the Last Days!
Later on in the chapter, Jesus said…

32 “Now learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branches bud and its leaves begin to sprout, you know that summer is near. 33 In the same way, when you see all these things, you can know his return is very near, right at the door.”
Matthew 24:32 NLT
Notice he said, “ALL these things”. That’s what gives us a sense of urgency. There are just too many of “these things” happening all at once. Furthermore, I only touched on a few things! For example, check out the videos below for more in-depth prophetic news coverage.
Nonetheless, all this is not to scare you, but to warn you and give you hope. Likewise, in the final chapter of the Bible, Jesus said…
12 “Look, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”
14 Blessed are those who wash their robes. They will be permitted to enter through the gates of the city and eat the fruit from the tree of life.
Revelation 22:12-14 NLT
Is YOUR robe washed in the Blood of the Lamb?
