God Keeps His Promises! Fulfilled Prophecies are all the Proof You Need!

Bible prophecy is fascinating! The Bible is full of it. Actually, almost 30% of the Bible is prophecy. From Genesis to the ultimate prophetic book, Revelation, God makes promises with us humans and He keeps them. There are around 300 prophecies that predict Jesus’ coming as the Jewish Messiah — Yeshua Hamashiach. Today we will look at just some of the ones that were already fulfilled and one special one that has yet to be fulfilled. Let’s dig in…

Bible Prophecies Fulfilled

Jesus’ Triumphant Entry

Prophecied: Zechariah 9:9

Rejoice, O people of Zion!
Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem!
Look, your king is coming to you.
    He is righteous and victorious,
yet he is humble, riding on a donkey—
    riding on a donkey’s colt.

Zechariah 9:9 NLT Written in c. 520 BC

Prophecied: Psalm 118: 25-26

25 Please, Lord, please save us.
Please, Lord, please give us success.
26 Bless the one who comes in the name of the Lord.
We bless you from the house of the Lord.

Psalm 118: 25-26 NLT c. 979 BC

And in Zephaniah 3:15

And the Lord himself, the King of Israel,
    will live among you!

12 The next day, the news that Jesus was on the way to Jerusalem swept through the city. A large crowd of Passover visitors 13 took palm branches and went down the road to meet him. They shouted,

“Praise God!
Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
Hail to the King of Israel!”(fulfilled ; Zephaniah 3:15)

14 Jesus found a young donkey and rode on it, fulfilling the prophecy that said:

15 “Don’t be afraid, people of Jerusalem.
Look, your King is coming,
    riding on a donkey’s colt.”

John 12:12-15 NLT

Prophecy: Isaiah 53:3

(In fact, all of Isaiah 52 AND 53, written c. 730 BC, was a prophecy about Jesus.)

He was despised and rejected—
a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief.
We turned our backs on him and looked the other way.
He was despised, and we did not care.

Isaiah 53:3 NLT

Fulfilled by Jesus – John 1:10-11

10 He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. 11 He came to his own people, and even they rejected him.

John 1:10-11 NLT

Prophesied: Psalm 22:17-18

Written by David c. 979 BC

17 I can count all my bones.
My enemies stare at me and gloat.
18 They divide my garments among themselves
and throw dice for my clothing.

Psalm 22:17-18 NLT

Fulfilled by Jesus – John 19:23

23 When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they divided his clothes among the four of them. They also took his robe, but it was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom.

John 19:23 NLT

Passover Prophesied: Numbers 9:12

12 They must not leave any of the lamb until the next morning, and they must not break any of its bones. They must follow all the normal regulations concerning the Passover.

Numbers 9:12 NLT, written by Moses, c. 1445 BC

Fulfilled by Jesus – John 19:31-37

31 It was the day of preparation, and the Jewish leaders didn’t want the bodies hanging there the next day, which was the Sabbath (and a very special Sabbath, because it was Passover week). So they asked Pilate to hasten their deaths by ordering that their legs be broken. Then their bodies could be taken down. 32 So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the two men crucified with Jesus. 33 But when they came to Jesus, they saw that he was already dead, so they didn’t break his legs. 34 One of the soldiers, however, pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water flowed out. 35 (This report is from an eyewitness giving an accurate account. He speaks the truth so that you also may continue to believe.) 36 These things happened in fulfillment of the Scriptures that say, “Not one of his bones will be broken,”37 and “They will look on the one they pierced.”

John 19:31-37 NLT

Prophesied: Psalm 16:10

Written by David, c. 979 BC

10 For you will not leave my soul among the dead
or allow your holy one to rot in the grave.

Psalm 16:10 NLT

Fulfilled by Jesus on Resurrection Day!

He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying.

Matthew 28:6 NLT

And confirmed by the Apostle Paul in Romans 6:8-11

And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him. We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. 10 When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God. 11 So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.

Romans 6:8-11 NLT

One last example of prophecies fulfilled…

Prophesied in Psalm 110:1

Again by David c. 979 BC

The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit in the place of honor at my right hand
until I humble your enemies,
making them a footstool under your feet.”

Psalm 110:1 NLT

Fulfilled – Hebrews 12:12-13 and Acts 2:32-36

12 But our High Priest offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand. 13 There he waits until his enemies are humbled and made a footstool under his feet.

Hebrews 10:12-13 NLT

32 “God raised Jesus from the dead, and we are all witnesses of this. 33 Now he is exalted to the place of highest honor in heaven, at God’s right hand. And the Father, as he had promised, gave him the Holy Spirit to pour out upon us, just as you see and hear today. 34 For David himself never ascended into heaven, yet he said,

‘The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit in the place of honor at my right hand
35 until I humble your enemies,
making them a footstool under your feet.”’

36 “So let everyone in Israel know for certain that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, to be both Lord and Messiah!”

Acts 2:32-36 NLT

As I mentioned previously, there are many more Bible prophecies about Jesus — around 300.

By the way, the chance of any person fulfilling these prophecies, even down to the present time, is 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000 (one in one hundred quadrillion). That is 10 to the 17th power. That has to be divine. Therefore, it has to be God. Moreover, if God was this precise regarding the first coming of His Son into the world, then the End Times Bible Prophecies also have to be precise. In other words, you can count on it all happening as it is written in the Bible. (Dig Deeper with these Bible Prophecy links AND Check out the Bible Prophecy Books in the Bookstore!)

Just so you know, Bible Prophecy is not meant to scare us, but to prepare us and to give us encouragement and confident hope. It’s the type of secure feeling that nothing in this world can give ever you.

Furthermore, ignoring prophecy distorts the entire message of the Bible. Obviously, if you remove prophecy, you remove the proof that the Bible is from a divine source. Interestingly, that’s what makes the Bible different from any other religious book. Besides that, where else do you get invited to a Heavenly Wedding Feast?

In conclusion, I’ll highlight my favorite prophecy because it came directly from the Lord Jesus…

“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going.”

“No, we don’t know, Lord,” Thomas said. “We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!”

John 14:1-7 NLT
