211.28: Why Hanukkah is More Than Just a Fun, Jewish Holiday, it’s in the Bible!

So far, we’ve been traveling through the chronological accounts until the Babylonian exile of the Jews which happened in 3 waves, from 605-586 BC. Today we’re jumping ahead to the 300s BC, then even further to 175-167 BC to yet another attack which led to the miracle of Hanukkah. Why should Christians understand the Jewish Hanukkah celebration? Because 1. Jesus celebrated it and 2. It points to Jesus as the Light of the World. We find the story in 1 Maccabees chapters 1, 2 and 4. Yes, it’s an apocryphal book, which means it’s not inspired by God, but an historical account. Let’s dig in…
