When we lived in upstate New York, my mom had a rose garden on the side of the house. Mom liked to experiment with grafting. She’d take a branch from say a white rose bush and graft it into the stem of say a red one. Did we get pink roses? Or were they red with white lines? I don’t remember. All I know is she had fun doing it and waiting to see the results.
Also, every so often, we’d have a crazy spring and we’d get a late frost. It would burn some of the rose branches. Mom would have to prune them and when the weather got warmer, the whole bush would be more robust.
Paul, the Apostle to the Gentiles, explains in Romans 11 that the Jews who don’t believe are not totally shut out, but the Gentiles are grafted in, adopted into the family of God.
